PROGRESSIVE VOTER ALLIANCE SCHOLARSHIP

The mission statement of the PVA is as follows: “The Progressive Voter Alliance is an inclusive coalition of voters who actively support candidates and issues that promote social and economic justice, political equality, and environmental stewardship.”

With the goal of encourging greater awareness and involvement in government, the PVA will award another scholarship for a student at New Mexico State University (NMSU).

If you are an undergraduate student of any declared major at NMSU, and if you agree with the above mission statement of the PVA, please continue to the application form below.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS

PVA Scholarship Definition

  • Three credit hours for a government class or an internship
  • The following classes are eligible for the scholarship: upper division classes offered by the Department of Government and related to national, state, or local government, including classes related to law and environment. Students may also perform an internship at the PVA or another progressive organization (to be approved by the PVA).
  • For Summer I, Summer II, or the Fall semester 2007.
  • 500 dollars for a one-time scholarship to be disbursed on the last day of the semester after completion of the class with a minimum grade of B.

PVA Scholarship Eligibility

  • Be a New Mexico resident (NM state residency requirement is one year)
  • Be progressive undergraduate student of any major
  • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Fill in the application below including the short essay
  • Submit a copy of a recent transcript/STAR degree audit after being accepted for the scholarship
