Elections & Securing the Vote Working GroupJanuary 2008 August 2007 August 2007 Post Election Update from Peter OssorioDecember 2006 I have one additional request: After you have had a chance to recover from a surfeit of politics and Thanksgiving turkey, would you please send me your observations about this past election and suggestions for the future? I hope to synthesize them into a summary for the benefit of the Bureau of Elections and for the Democratic Party of Dona Ana County and the Progressive Voter Alliance. To encourage candor, I will not directly attribute any particular remarks. So, regardless of whether you were a voter who saw something at a particular precinct, a poll worker with comments about your training or support, or a poll watcher or challenger protecting the vote and/or promoting a particular candidate, your comments—on whatever topics and in whatever detail you think appropriate—would be helpful. It has been an honor and a pleasure to meet and work with so many people who are willing to protect our democracy. Had I been able to attend the November 14 PVA meeting I planned on saying four words about the 2006 and 2008 elections: “Thank you; start early.” You can e-mail your election comments to Peter at ossorios@zianet.com.
Securing the VoteProgessives from parties other than the Democratic party who want to help protect the vote should contact their party chair. Progressives who are Democrats registered in any precinct in Doņa Ana County should contact Peter Ossorio for details about serving as a poll worker, watcher, or challenger. He can be reached at the phone and email shown at the right. (Please put "voter protection" in the subject to avoid confusion with spam.) Information concerning voter protection can by obtained by downloading the following PDF files: |
