INFORMATION ABOUT UNIFIED ACTION

The Unified Action is one specific action per month (e.g. a call or letter on legislation) which is designed to:

  • bring the full force of the PVA network to bear on behalf of progressive causes
  • allow us to support other organizations and one another on important issues
  • allow individual participants to opt out of a particular month’s action for strong moral or political reasons, while joining in again on the nine, ten, or eleven other times a year where they are in full agreement with the activity

When we agree to join the Unified Action, we are agreeing to take action on that specific, agreed-upon action each month without fail, unless we disagree morally, politically or in any other significant way with that month’s action.

If we disagree morally or politically with that month’s Unified Action, we are free to skip it, and pick up again the following month. It’s not okay, under terms of this agreement, to opt out of the monthly Unified Action simply because it doesn’t seem important to us, because we’re extra busy, etc. The Action is important to one or another of our progressive allies, and the strength of the whole enterprise depends on each of us faithfully acting on the proposed initiative.
