I am a Democratic candidate for State Representative, District 53 which encompasses parts of both Dona Ana County along Highway 70 and two precincts in Otero County (Alamogordo). I have lived in both counties and am interested in the welfare of both. I served more than thirty years as a federal manager, specializing in human resources management. I was Human Resources Director at both Holloman and Kirtland Air Force Bases, and in my tenure at Holloman was named Air Combat Command Personnel Officer of the Year three out of four years. I am a doctoral candidate with an emphasis in higher education and have earned graduate degrees in Human Resources, Human Relations, and Public Administration. I am currently an educator and serve as Faculty Chair at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Holloman Center, and is adjunct faculty for Dona Ana Branch Community College. As a retired public servant, I was especially concerned with high ethical standards and wise use of the taxpayer’s money. I believe that state government should be active in promoting progress in the state and region, a broad prosperity for all New Mexicans, and preservation of our natural areas. I am a Navy veteran, avid hiker, community volunteer, and environmentalist. I am on the Board of Directors of the Opportunity Center in Alamogordo, was president of the Southern New Mexico Hiking Club in Alamogordo, and am active in the Continental Divide Trail Alliance and the Las Cruces Humane Society. My wife, Monique, and I live near Organ. Our daughter, Michelle, will soon graduate with a Masters in Medical Science from Midwestern University.
